Amigoni Urban Winery

Amigoni Urban Winery is a family-owned winery and tasting room in Kansas City’s historic West Bottoms Stockyards District, at 1505 Genessee Street in the 1909 Daily Drover Telegram newspaper building. Founded in 2006 by winemaker Michael Amigoni and his wife Kerry Amigoni, it makes estate wine from the family’s Amigoni Vineyards in Centerview, Missouri, and pours it in a restored downtown space.

Description

Amigoni Urban Winery is a family-owned winery and tasting room in the West Bottoms Stockyards District, at 1505 Genessee Street in the restored 1909 Daily Drover Telegram newspaper building — for about half a century a daily paper serving the livestock industry that once defined the district.¹² It pours estate wine made from the Amigonis’ vineyard downstate, offering tastings, tours, and wine-blending classes in the urban space.¹²

Ownership and history

Amigoni was established in 2006 when Michael Amigoni turned a home-winemaking hobby into a business, with his wife Kerry Amigoni as co-owner.¹ After planting Cabernet Franc in his Leawood, Kansas backyard, the couple bought land in Centerview, Missouri, where Amigoni Vineyards became Michael’s proving ground as a winemaker over more than two decades; the West Bottoms urban winery followed as the tasting-and-production home.¹
