Añejo Modern Mexican Cuisine is a family-run modern Mexican group started in Olathe in late 2021 by Jaquelinne Ortiz and her father Angel Ortiz. Operating rooms now include Zona Rosa (8600 NW Prairie View Rd, former Bar Louie), Legends / Village West, and a downtown soft-open at 1006 Walnut St (former Charisse, Commerce Bank Building) as of August 2026. Tier 1 — founder-family, in-metro.123
Description
Añejo’s first-party Zona Rosa site frames “the delicious flavors of Mexico” with a large tequila/mezcal program (margarita dispensers, tequila tower flights, Oaxaca mezcal margarita, cantarito) and a kitchen that photographs as a mix of antojitos and plated mains: guacamole, shrimp tostadas, taco salad, burrito in green chile, grilled steak, shrimp-stuffed poblano, menudo/tripe soup, pupusas, ceviche oysters, fried seabass, garlic wings. Pitch (Aug 6, 2026) says the Walnut Street room is still in soft opening, with indoor plus indoor/outdoor patio seating; full opening details promised on Instagram @anejodowntownkcmo.32
Ownership and history
The Kansas City Star (Mar 8, 2023) reported Jaquelinne Ortiz and father Angel Ortiz opening the Olathe restaurant at 16411 W 119th St in late 2021, then taking the former Bar Louie at Zona Rosa (mid-to-late April 2023 plan) as the airport/Northland play. Manager Gustavo Ruiz (Jaquelinne’s husband) was the quoted operator. By August 2026 The Pitch treated Zona Rosa and Legends as the established pair and 1006 Walnut (ex-Charisse) as the new downtown third room. Whether the original Olathe dining room is still serving is not confirmed on the Zona Rosa site this pass — flagged, not assumed closed.12
A separate first-party URL, https://www.anejolegends.com/, lists 1700 Village West Parkway, Kansas City, KS 66111 — consistent with Pitch’s “Legends” room. Do not merge that site’s hours into the Zona Rosa infobox without a same-day pull.4
