Botánica Guadalupe is a religious-goods shop and spiritual-consultation counter at 4005 Independence Avenue in Kansas City’s Historic Northeast, run by Consejera Espiritual Karina from a storefront she describes as twenty years in the same place.

Description

Botánica Guadalupe occupies a storefront at 4005 Independence Avenue in the Historic Northeast of Kansas City, Missouri — Independence Avenue, not the city of Independence.¹² The shop is a botánica in the ordinary U.S. Latino-neighborhood sense: religious goods on the floor and spiritual consultation at the counter.

The shop’s own GoDaddy site, consejerakarina.com, identifies Consejera Espiritual Karina as the person visitors come to see. She writes that she has spent 25 years helping clients “con sus sueños y problemas” and that 20 years ago she opened her own botanica, which she calls the most popular in the Midwest — a superlative left as her claim, not a Registry finding.¹ In-person consultations are at the storefront; she also offers telephone, internet, home and business consultations.¹

Services named on the site are limpias (spiritual cleansings), amares, endulzamientos, protecciones, and card, palm and tarot readings.¹ MapQuest’s listing copy adds desamarres and problemas de justicia.² Photo captions on that listing include “Leo cartas y manos. También soy curandera” and “Tengo 20 años en el mismo lugar.”²

This page is not the similarly named botanicas in Oxnard, Ontario, Denver, the Bronx, or Huntington Park, and it is not Wichita’s Botanica gardens.

No Northeast News profile was located (site search for “botanica guadalupe” and “botanica” returned no articles). The Northeast Kansas City Chamber member directory has no listing.

Ownership and history

The shop’s first-party site presents Karina as the person who opened the botanica. No source located during research gives her surname, and no source states that she is the legal owner of the licensed entity. “¹

Kansas City Finance Department business-licence records, as republished by OpenGovUS, show a succession of names at the same address, not a single identified owner:

• Ediberto Duran Nune / Duran Nune Ediberto, DBA Botanica Guadalupe, 4005 Independence Ave — licences valid through 31 December 2014 and 31 December 2016.³
• Botanica La Guadalupe LLC, DBA Botanica La Guadalupe, 4005 Independence Ave — licences valid through 31 December 2022 and 31 December 2023 (licence #1675272832). No later year appears in that republished set.⁴

OpenGovUS’s “owned by” phrasing on those rows is the aggregator’s inversion of DBA vs. legal name and is not treated as an owner identification. Whether Karina, Ediberto Duran Nune and the LLC are the same operation, successive operators, or overlapping names is “.

A separately licensed Yesnia Rosario · Botanica Guadalupe appears at 3626 Independence Ave (licence valid through 31 December 2015). That is a different address; it is not merged into this page.³

Founding year. The site’s headline is “¡Celebrando 20 años!” and Karina writes “Hace 20 años realize mi sueño de abrir mi propia botánica.” The site copyright line is 2024. A MapQuest/Yelp photo caption says “Tengo 20 años en el mismo lugar.” None of those is a calendar year; 20 years counted from 2024 would be about 2004, from 2026 about 2006. Exact founding year is “.¹²

The earliest city licence located at 4005 is the 2014 Ediberto Duran Nune record, which is a licence year, not a founding year.³
