Brick House is Union Hill’s neighborhood sports bar at 400 E 31st St, opened in February 2017 by longtime KC bar manager Tyler Humar in the exposed-brick space that previously held Barrel 31 — its signature move is a rotating list of 20–25 canned beers weighted toward Kansas and Missouri breweries. Tuesday Geeks Who Drink trivia is a weekly fixture.
Description
Brick House is a canned-beer thesis in bar form: instead of chasing tap-wall length, Humar built the list around 20–25 rotating cans with deliberate weight on Kansas and Missouri breweries, next to straightforward pub food.1 The room’s exposed brick — inherited from the Barrel 31 build-out — named the place.1
The kitchen runs half-pound burgers (the K.C. Burger stacks pepper jack, fried onions, and BBQ pulled pork; the Hot Hands adds habanero cheese, jalapeños, and sriracha honey), a build-your-own Brickhouse Mac and Cheese with burnt ends, pulled pork, pork belly, or buffalo chicken, plus fish and chips and a Kansas City cheese steak.2 Weekend brunch (Sat–Sun 10am–2pm) brings bottomless mimosas and plates like The Brickhouse — fried chicken, bacon, and gravy over a biscuit with a sunny-side egg.2 The bar leans on a large outdoor patio stocked with bocce, bags, oversized Jenga, and Connect Four, a covered heated bar area with TVs, live music every Friday during happy hour, and $6 cheeseburgers on Thursdays.3
