Description

Carbal is a work-gear and supply store on Independence Avenue in the Historic Northeast, stocking work boots, tools, and construction supplies for tradespeople working in and around the corridor. Northeast News frames its proposition plainly: the store sits “just around the corner from many jobsites in the Northeast Kansas City area,” so a roofer or framer does not have to drive out of the neighborhood to a big-box warehouse for gear.¹

Carbal was founded by Manuel Botas — known to many customers as “The Crazy Bull” — who began the venture in 2020 by selling boots, and opened his first brick-and-mortar location at 4616 Independence Ave in 2023.¹ Northeast News describes him as “bilingual, hard-working, and rooted in Latino entrepreneurial spirit,” and reports that he handles customer questions personally: “Give me a call and I’ll help you right away!”¹

The business has since grown beyond the Avenue. Northeast News reported a second location at 719 Central Ave in Kansas City, Kansas.¹ As of this writing Carbal’s own site lists three physical stores in the Kansas City region: 4616 Independence Ave (Kansas City, Missouri), 719 Central Ave (Kansas City, Kansas), and 10519 St. Charles Rock Rd (St. Ann, Missouri).² The Independence Avenue store is described by Northeast News as the heart of the brand.¹
