Earl’s Provisions is a French-market-style prepared-foods shop next door to Earl’s Premier in the Brookside–Waldo edge of Kansas City, opened in June 2025 by the Schulte–Dannehl restaurant group as an extension of Earl’s Premier’s kitchen.

Description

Earl’s Provisions is a roughly 2,000-square-foot prepared-foods market that opened the first week of June 2025 immediately next door to Earl’s Premier at 651 E 59th Street in Kansas City, Missouri.1 The shop takes its cue from the French Market in Prairie Village — co-owner Todd Schulte told Kansas City Magazine, “We’re huge fans of the French Market in Prairie Village, so we’re taking a page from their playbook and seeing how it works out for us.”1 The space had previously served as office and used-restaurant-equipment storage; converting it into Provisions gave the Earl’s Premier team room to expand the neighboring restaurant’s kitchen and extend its menu into a grab-and-go retail format.1

Provisions is the third concept from Schulte and Dannehl, following Earl’s Premier (2022) and Sea Capitán Cocina Costera (2025), cementing the pair as one of the most active independent restaurant groups on the KC side of the state line.

Ownership and history

Earl’s Provisions is co-owned by Todd Schulte and Cory Dannehl, the longtime partners behind Earl’s Premier and Sea Capitán Cocina Costera.1 The market opened in a space the group already controlled — the office and equipment-storage room next to Earl’s Premier — allowing the group to grow the Earl’s footprint without a separate lease or a new build-out. Schulte has been building independent Kansas City restaurants for more than two decades (including Happy Gillis Café + Hangout and Genessee Royale Bistro prior to the Earl’s group).
