Description

El Menudazo is a family-owned café at 904 N 18th St in Kansas City, Kansas, built on the Sunday menudo-and-birria recipes of owner Lionel Lucero’s father, Chico. Lucero was born and raised in Chicago until 15, then sent to work in the family’s cattle business in Mexico until 21; he first came to Kansas City for an American Royal horse show. After years of watching family and friends urge his father to open a restaurant, Lucero took those recipes public — and found a gap no one else was filling: authentic lamb birria.²
