Giovanni’s Italian Deli & Pasta is a family-run, counter-service Italian deli at 6100 NE Antioch Rd in Gladstone — hot and cold sandwiches, spaghetti and lasagna, and Italian meats sold by the pound. It has no website of its own; a Facebook page stands in for one. Regulars describe it as a decades-old Northland fixture, and the Diocese of Kansas City–St. Joseph lists it among the metro’s Catholic-family-owned restaurants. The owners’ names are not published anywhere we could find.

Description

Giovanni’s sits in a strip building on NE Antioch Road just south of the Antioch Center area in Gladstone. Clay County’s tourism office describes it plainly: “The quick service restaurant offers hot and cold sandwiches, spaghetti, and more!”¹ Orders are placed at the counter; the dining room is small.²

The menu, as described by customers, runs to the classic Italian-American deli canon — hot and cold subs, spaghetti, lasagna and other pastas — and the deli case sells Italian meats and cheeses by the pound.³ No first-party menu is published online, and third-party menu mirrors are not used here (see Menu).

In June 2026 The Catholic Key, the newspaper of the Diocese of Kansas City–St. Joseph, published a reader-built map of “restaurants owned and operated by Catholic families in our diocese” and placed Giovanni’s in its Northland list alongside Summit Grill, The Italian Sausage Company and Kate’s Kitchen.⁴ The listing gives the address only; Giovanni’s is one of the few entries without a website.⁴

Ownership and history

The business is family-operated. A Tripadvisor reviewer described being served by a man “I’m pretty sure was the owner, with his brother and maybe his daughter or niece working there as well.”² Customers on review aggregators variously call it a “20–30 year family-owned” deli and describe having eaten there since childhood.³ None of that is confirmed by a first-party or press source: the owners’ names, the founding year and whether the founding family still owns it are all open.

The Catholic Key’s 2026 dining guide is the only editorial mention found; it confirms the business is currently trading and that its owners identify as a Catholic family, but names no one.⁴ No coverage was found in the Kansas City Star, The Pitch, Northland Lifestyle or the Gladstone/Courier-Tribune papers.
