Description

Kohinoor is a Latin-inspired cocktail lounge occupying a space under the Pickwick Plaza Apartments at 921 McGee Street in downtown Kansas City. Owner Jasmine Rios, a KC-native bartender with family roots in Durango, Mexico, opened the bar with a soft launch in mid-May 2025 and a formal grand opening in October 2025.¹²³ The program pairs agave-forward and Latin-inspired cocktails — developed by Rios with bartender Manny Gomez — with a small-bites menu that includes aguachiles made from her father’s recipe.¹ The bar’s name, Kohinoor, references the historic diamond, invoked by Rios as a signal of the “sparkle” she wanted to bring to the downtown cocktail scene.³

Ownership and history

Owner Jasmine Rios is a Kansas City native who worked as a bartender in the local scene before opening Kohinoor as her first solo venture.¹ Her family’s roots in Durango, Mexico inform both the cuisine and the cocktail program; the aguachiles on the food menu come directly from her father’s recipe.¹ Bartender Manny Gomez contributes to the drinks program.¹ The bar sits in the ground-floor commercial space beneath Pickwick Plaza Apartments in the Downtown Loop.²
