Lily Floral Collective is an independent florist at 922 E. 5th Street in Columbus Park, Kansas City, Missouri, co-owned by Betsy Ford and Lily Williams and operating under that partnership since 2020.

Description

Lily Floral Collective occupies 922 E. 5th Street in Columbus Park, Jackson County, Kansas City, Missouri — not Kansas City, Kansas, and not a Kansas-side “5th Street.” The block sits east of the River Market and west of the East Bottoms; the shop’s own copy places it “in the heart of Columbus Park,” between Swoon and Café Cà Phê.12 First-party neighbor copy still names Swoon as a living neighbor; the Registry page for Swoon is separately marked closed in 2025. That neighbor line is recorded as stale first-party language, not as proof Swoon is open.

The shop is a single-location florist. First-party homepage copy calls the owners “Kansas City Botanical Artists,” frames the work as “floral design done differently,” and lists Tina, Eddie, and Lyd as the current shop team alongside the two co-owners.13 The Kansas City Star (J.M. Banks; originally published 9 May 2026, updated 11 May 2026) visited the 5th Street studio during the Mother’s Day rush, with photographs dated Friday 8 May 2026, and described last-minute bouquets moving from design tables to delivery cars.4

This page is not any other “Lily” florist outside Columbus Park, and not Lily of the Valley or similar trade names.

Hours — first-party conflict, printed not merged. Three first-party lines on the official site disagree:12

  • Site-wide footer: Tuesday–Friday 10 a.m.–4 p.m.; Saturday appointments only.
  • Contact page body: “HOURS: TUES - SAT 11AM - 4PM.”
  • Homepage banner: “We deliver within the KC Metro, Tuesday - Friday.”

Ford told The Star the shop is not open Sunday “because we’re both moms.”4 First-party Facebook intro copy (as indexed) also reads “Floral shop: OPEN Tuesday - Friday 10-4pm.”5 None of those lines is converted into the others here. Third-party directories are not used as hours.

Ownership and history

First-party About copy names Lily as “co-owner / founder” and Betsy as co-owner. Surnames Williams and Ford are not on the About page; they are in The Star, Northeast News, and The Pitch.3467

Partnership-date conflict — printed, not merged.

  • Homepage: “Founded in 2020 by Betsy and Lily.”1
  • The Star: the Kansas City floral business “they built together in 2020”; originally launched as Lily Floral Designs, later rebranded Lily Floral Collective.4
  • Betsy’s first-party bio: after three years in Charleston, SC, she moved “back home to Kansas City” in 2019 and “that’s when I joined forces” with Lily.3
  • Lily’s first-party bio: the work started in her kitchen as a side hustle; “After 4 years on my own, Betsy joined forces with me and we made this thing official as business partners.”3
  • Northeast News (Abby Hoover, 12 October 2022): order-only full time since the beginning of 2020; they “started the business the first week of January,” signed paperwork, “set up our LLC,” leased a Brookside studio, and had planned a 4 April 2020 grand opening that COVID cancelled. Ford’s birthday that year is the day the shutdown landed. The pair had met while working at an unnamed established Kansas City florist in 2012; Williams says Betsy hired her there.6

Those accounts can all be true only if 2019–early 2020 is the partnership/LLC start and “four years on my own” refers to Williams’s pre-partnership side hustle. They cannot all be true if they are describing the same start year for the same company. Neither figure is picked here. Current Missouri Secretary of State entity name was not searched this pass. “

Williams’s pre-partnership path, per Northeast News and The Pitch: after leaving the unnamed florist she took a corporate job, missed flowers, posted on Facebook for wedding work, and grew a kitchen / studio-apartment practice (five weddings the first year, then 25, then 50). Ford had been in Charleston as a floral buyer / wedding-department worker. Ford texted asking if they wanted to “do this for real.”67 The Star adds that Williams entered the industry during college at a flower shop in Pittsburg, Kansas (Pitt State appears on first-party Instagram, not on the shop About page).4

Rooms. Brookside studio (first-party and press: about 700–800 sq ft) from early 2020; Columbus Park studio found November 2021 and walk-in retail launched with a 15 October 2022 grand opening at 922 E. 5th, in the Vacarro Soda Lofts building per a later Northeast News opening write-up.67 Rebrand from Lily Floral Designs to Lily Floral Collective is stated by The Star; leftover first-party social handles still use the old name (@lilyfloraldesignskc on TikTok; Pinterest lilyfloraldesigns).41

The Star (May 2026) reported the owners were “preparing to purchase their business space later this year.” That is a planned purchase, not a completed deed, and is not treated as current title.4
