Lotawana Brewing is an independent microbrewery and taproom at 9420 S. Shrout Rd., Grain Valley, MO 64029, on the eastern Jackson County rural edge of the Lake Lotawana / Grain Valley line — Missouri, not a different state’s Lotawana, and not a homebrew club. First-party copy frames it as friends who started brewing on a Super Bowl Sunday “out of a bucket,” then opened a flagship in their “home town of Lake Lotawana.” Tier 1, owner name thin — watchlist.123

Description

Lotawana Brewing occupies a rural lot at 9420 S. Shrout Road with a Grain Valley mailing city and ZIP 64029.13 The taproom is a commercial brewery with a posted tap list, cocktail list, wine list, house-roasted coffee, outdoor yard / fire pit (third-party reviews), live events, and a published German-American food menu under The Duck Haus.145 It is not a homebrew club: Missouri Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Control lists LOTAWANA BREWING COMPANY LLC as a Microbrewery (primary license 291965, ZIP 64029, street 9420), still on the state’s solicitor/microbrewery extracts as of 31 August 2026 and 29 January 2026 respectively.36

The street sits in eastern Jackson County, Missouri, in the Grain Valley / Lake Lotawana farm country south of I-70. First-party and Facebook treat Lake Lotawana as hometown identity; the published street address and the state license use Grain Valley. Both are printed here. This is not Lake of the Ozarks, not a Kansas listing, and not a different U.S. “Lotawana.”15

The home page still carries the founding story in present-tense leftover copy: “This year we will proudly open our flagship location in our home town of Lake Lotawana.” The same page banners Now Open! and publishes current hours and a current tap list. The opening is independently dated by Flatland to 9 September 2023.12

Ownership and history

Legal name: Lotawana Brewing Company LLC, Missouri microbrewery license 291965.36 Missouri Secretary of State member/organizer names were not retrieved this pass (search UI / Cloudflare). “

Named owner is not established. The first-party site never names an owner, brewer, or managing member.1 A claimed Yelp business-owner block (listing updated August 2026) identifies the owner as Mike M. and uses first-person copy: “We craft easy drinking non complicated beer, we also make specialty craft cocktails with local distiller Tom’s Town Bourbons and Vodka.”7 A Compiler leftover had Michael Moreno. That last name is not on the official site, Flatland, Facebook About, Instagram, or the state license extract located this pass. It is not converted into a fact. “

First-party origin story (undated on the live home page): brewing started “a few years back” on a Super Bowl Sunday “out of a bucket”; the group then did “lots and lots of R&D” at local breweries and aimed at “a simple line up of flagship beers” in traditional ale and lager styles, described as “a story of good friends, good beers.”1 Flatland (19 September 2023) is the dated public-opening source: Saturday, 9 September 2023, five flagship beers (American pale ale, golden ale, red ale, stout, shandy), hard seltzers, Tom’s Town canned cocktails, wine, a few non-alcoholic options, a homemade Bavarian pretzel with beer cheese, and a planned in-home keg service aimed at homebrewers who wanted pro-dialed kegging systems. Opening hours then were Friday 4–10 p.m., Saturday 12–10 p.m., Sunday 12–6 p.m., with a plan to add Wednesday and Thursday 4–10 p.m.2

Address conflict, printed not merged: Flatland’s 2023 lede used 9430 S. Shrout Road. First-party, Facebook, and the Missouri license street number are 9420. Treat 9420 as current; leave 9430 as the press figure.1235

The Duck Haus German-American scratch kitchen is first-party: shareable trays, haus sausages, pretzels, Southern comfort sides, plus a bourbon/rum/tequila/cigar lounge pitch that “calls back to the era of Ernest Hemmingway” (site spelling) and early Lotawana duck-hunting cabins.14 On the same home page the kitchen is still described as “about to open” after “months of sweat equity.” Do not invent a kitchen opening date. The food menu is published; whether the kitchen is serving on a given night is not independently dated this pass.14

Sausages credited to local Kurzweil’s. Pairing notes name additional beers Buoy 5 Saison and Lakeside Cream Ale that are not on the home-page tap list — printed as menu pairings, not assumed on tap today.4 2023 Flatland pretzel-only snack service is the earlier food picture; do not collapse it with the later published kitchen menu.24

In-home keg service: promised at opening (Flatland). Current availability “.2
