Northland Artists’ Gallery is an artist-owned cooperative fine-art gallery at 519 Main Street in Weston, run and staffed by its own member artists and open seven days a week.

Description

Northland Artists’ Gallery occupies a storefront at 519 Main Street in Weston, Missouri, a Platte County river town whose intact nineteenth-century commercial main street is the gallery’s principal foot-traffic engine.1 The gallery is open daily, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.1

The gallery is a cooperative rather than a dealer’s gallery: it is artist-owned and artist-managed, governed by an elected board of directors, with all members serving on committees, and it is staffed by the artists themselves whenever it is open.2 Membership is juried — prospective artists apply and present work to a jury committee.2 The gallery states that it has grown from a handful of artist-members to a body of roughly thirty regional artists.2

Work on offer spans oil, acrylic, pastel and watercolour painting, mixed media and drawing, sculpture, handcrafted jewelry, photography, pottery, stained glass and fibre art, with new work rotated in continually.2 Kansas City public radio station KCUR listed the gallery among the handcraft destinations in Weston in a 2024 travel feature, naming its annual small art show.3 That show — original work sold at a single low price point — has run annually; the ninth edition was scheduled for Saturday 12 September 2026.4

The gallery also participates in the Weston Art Walk, a Main Street event promoted by the Weston Chamber of Commerce.5

Ownership and history

Per the gallery’s own account, the organisation began as Northland Exposure Artists’ Gallery, founded by Northland artist Debbie Pfauth, who opened a gallery in Smithville, Missouri. In 1999 it was reorganised as a cooperative gallery. It moved to Parkville in 2005, then to Main Street in Weston in August 2016. The name was changed to Northland Artists’ Gallery in 2019.2

Because the gallery is a cooperative, there is no single proprietor: ownership rests with the artist-members and operating authority with an elected board.2

— the year Debbie Pfauth opened the original Smithville gallery, which precedes the 1999 cooperative reorganisation the gallery gives as its founding date. — current board officers and the exact current member count; the gallery’s own about page says “nearly 30,” while a 2026 promotional post referenced a larger figure.
