Taqueria San Pedro is a small independent taquería at 418 Main St. in downtown Belton, Missouri — a first-ring Cass County suburb inside Geographic-Scope. Owner Omar Rizo converted his paletería and popcorn shop, Omar’s Famous Popcorn, into a taco room because, he told The Kansas City Star, good tacos always meant leaving town. The Star found it open about a week as of 17 September 2026, with homemade tortillas, a short street-taco board, a bar, a handful of tables and a patio. No own domain located this pass.

Description

The Star walked in on a quiet Tuesday around 5 p.m. and found a steady stream of customers in what it called downtown Belton’s newest — and only — taquería.1 A passerby on Main shouted that the place was “really good” and recommended the shrimp tacos.1 Rizo said return visits were already stacking up: “We’re really happy to be in Belton, and we are so blessed that we have such a great response from our local customers.”1

The kitchen makes tortillas in-house and fries chips to order. Street-taco proteins named in the piece: beef tripe, cow tongue, cow head, suadero, birria, pollo al pastor, carnitas and chorizo.1 Rizo’s own framing is that this is one of the only places in the southern suburb for authentic tacos, which is why he converted the popcorn shop.1 The Star notes other Belton Mexican restaurants exist — Emiliano’s Mexican Cuisine (17207 U.S. Highway 71), Bonito Casa (704 E. North Ave.), Cinco de Mayo Taqueria y Carniceria (524 N. Scott Ave.) — so “only taquería” is the paper’s downtown-Main-Street usage, not a metro-wide claim.1

Menu prices below are as reported by The Star from the 17 September 2026 visit, not a first-party PDF or ordering API. They are not aggregator prices. They will drift; do not treat them as current without a later capture.

Ownership and history

Omar Rizo is the owner on the record. He previously ran Omar’s Famous Popcorn in the same room and converted it because “every time we were looking for good tacos, we always had to go out of town to find them.”1 No second source this pass names a co-owner, a legal entity, or Rizo’s place of residence. That is the placement here, not a punishment.

Exact opening day is not in The Star — only “open for just a week” as of 17 September 2026, which points at roughly 10 September 2026 and is inference, not a date. ****
