The Inked Page Bookstore is an independent specialty bookstore at 7942 Santa Fe Drive in downtown Overland Park, Kansas, opened 22 August 2026 by friends and Wichita natives Courtney Moffitt and Katie Jones in the former Ink & Page Book Boutique storefront.

Description

The Inked Page occupies 7942 Santa Fe Drive in historic downtown Overland Park, Johnson County, Kansas — not Overland Park, Missouri, and not the prior Ink & Page Book Boutique as a continuing company.12 It is a single-location independent shop. The Kansas City Star (Noelle Alviz-Gransee, 18 August 2026) describes a niche store built around mystery, thriller, true crime, horror, a “small but mighty” science-fiction run, narrative nonfiction, “weird literature,” classics, and a curated dark-romance wall, plus locally made objects such as themed candles and artwork.1 The Johnson County Post (Lucie Krisman, 15 June 2026) frames the same mix as mysteries, thrillers, horror, true crime, and darker takes on classics and romance.2

Star photo captions on that feature also label the shop as specializing in “dark romance, horror and fantasy.” The body of the same article does not put fantasy on the lead list. Those two wordings are printed here and are not merged.1

The room is styled, in Moffitt’s Star quote, like “your favorite weird aunt’s attic.” A lounge of vintage couches in the back is for daytime reading and, after hours, for book clubs, craft nights, community events and murder-mystery parties; Moffitt described bulk book-club ordering with a couple of weeks’ (or, with more notice, a month’s) lead time.1 A heron is the visual through-line — wallpaper at the desk, a mural, and a mascot named Artie, tied by the owners to Katie Jones’s late father, Arthur Jones.1

First-party Instagram (@theinkedpagebookstore) is the live public channel. A Squarespace host at https://www.theinkedpagebookstore.com/ answers HTTP 401 with “This site is currently private” and is not treated as a public website.3 No phone number was findable on that Instagram account or in the Star / Post features this pass. “

This page is not Ink & Page Book Boutique (the prior tenant), not inkandpagebooks.com, and not any tattoo studio that shares the “inked” word.

“First in the city” is a press claim, not a Registry finding. The Star’s hed calls the shop the city’s first mystery / horror / true crime bookstore. That ranking is not independently verified here and is not adopted as fact.1

Ownership and history

Co-owners are Courtney Moffitt (age 34 in the 18 August 2026 Star profile) and Katie Jones (age 35 in that profile) — friends, Wichita natives, and Kansas City transplants.12 The Post reports they met as stylists at a Wichita bridal shop, have nearly 30 years of combined retail experience, and that The Inked Page is their first business of their own.2 One sentence in that Post article spells the first co-owner “Moffett”; the rest of the Post piece, its photo caption, and the entire Star profile use Moffitt. Those spellings are printed; Moffitt is the form used in every other located instance and is the one carried in the infobox.21

The shop sits in the former Ink & Page Book Boutique. The Star names the prior owner Erin Olivia; the Post (March and June 2026) names her Erin Oliva, with photo captions using Oliva. Those two spellings are not merged.124 The Post traces that storefront from The Pretty Posy, a women’s clothing boutique Oliva/Olivia opened in 2021, through a later pivot to books, with Ink & Page occupying the room for roughly three years of a five-year lease that she declined to renew in 2026 in order to spend more time with her children.24 Moffitt told The Star the similar name was “a small nod to her legacy and all the hard work that she did,” not a continuation of that company.1

The Star dates the decision to open to April 2026, coinciding with Arthur Jones’s birthday; Moffitt is quoted connecting herons as “liminal creatures” to that go-ahead.1 The Post, writing in June, said they hoped to open by the end of July; the actual first-day open was Saturday, 22 August 2026.215 Those two target dates are sequential, not a conflict: July was a hope; August 22 is the recorded open.

A first-party Instagram post the same day states that opening-day demand stripped shelves (especially horror), sold out tote bags, and exhausted loyalty punch cards, with a restock order planned for the following Monday and Sunday hours the next day 12–5.5

Kansas entity filing was not searched this pass. “
