Description

Urban Eats is the first full restaurant from Singh and Kaur, who already ran an Indian-Pakistani grocery, ice cream, and juice operation (Taj Grocers) and a catering/meal-box practice. The Star lists tandoor bites, small plates, street food, and curry, plus fusion: chicken tandoori pizza, paneer pizza, tikka masala pizza (jalapeño ranch drizzle in photo caption), chicken tikka burrito, and paneer naan burrito.1 JoCo Post also names goat biryani and aloo tikki.3

Ownership and history

Jaspal Singh and Manjit Kaur (husband and wife) own both Taj Grocers and Urban Eats. Per daughter Simi Kaur (quoted in the Star): the family moved to the U.S. in 2008 and opened the grocery in 2017; both parents had catering and Indian-restaurant experience; Manjit’s sweets were especially popular. Fusion pizza/burrito formats were pitched as filling a Kansas City gap common in larger cities.1
