Wild About Harry is a men’s gift-and-goods shop on the Independence Square at 104 W Maple Avenue in Independence, Missouri, stocking clothing, grooming and shave goods, barware, pocket knives and multi-tools, and local Kansas City sports and Truman-history memorabilia. It is part of the McClain family’s Independence Square portfolio, and its storefront doubled as the fictional “KC Corner Store and fan cave” in the 2024 Hallmark/Chiefs film Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story.¹²

Wild About Harry is a men’s gift and general-goods store on the Independence Square. Its merchandise is organized around gifts for men and spans clothing and style (hats, ties, eyewear, belts, bags), jewelry and accessories (wallets, bracelets, cufflinks, keychains), grooming and personal care (soap, hair and beard care, shaving, fragrance), cigar accessories, drink and bar goods (drinkware, barware, flasks), home and office decor, gadgets and gear (pocket knives, multi-tools, tech accessories), games and hobbies, and local memorabilia — Kansas City sports and Truman history. Listed hours are Monday–Saturday 10 a.m.–6 p.m., closed Sunday, Christmas, and New Year’s Day.¹

The shop is one of roughly fifteen-plus businesses the McClain family operates on and around the historic Square. That concentration of McClain-owned storefronts is why the block has become a favored filming location: in 2024, Wild About Harry was dressed as the fictional “KC Corner Store and fan cave” — filled to the brim with Chiefs merchandise — for the Hallmark Channel movie Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story, alongside sibling spaces used for other on-screen settings.²

The McClains began revitalizing the Independence Square in 1998 — their first building was the former Katz Pharmacy, which became their flagship, Ophelia’s — and grew the portfolio to roughly fifteen businesses (“18 and counting”) across restaurants and retail. Cindy McClain is president of the group. She grew up in Boulder, Colorado, with family and church ties to Independence rather than being born-and-raised there; the couple’s decades-long, block-by-block preservation of the Square is among the metro’s most consequential local-preservation efforts.³
