History

Yorkie’s Foreign Car Service dates its founding to 1963, in the period when European sports and touring cars were arriving in the American Midwest faster than anyone was equipped to maintain them.² The shop’s claim to be Kansas City’s oldest foreign-car repair business is repeated consistently across its own materials and its partner’s, and has not been contradicted by any source located in this pass — but it has also not been independently verified, and the founder is not named anywhere in the record examined here.¹³²

Anders Automotive was founded in 2007 as a domestic-vehicle repair shop and dealer alternative on Merriam Lane.⁴ In July 2019, Anders announced a merge with Yorkie’s, consolidating the two operations at 1017 Merriam Lane.
