Little Freshie was a Westside Kansas City soda fountain and snow-cone café founded by Lindsay Laricks, who grew it from her “Fresher Than Fresh” vintage-Shasta snow-cone trailer into a brick-and-mortar shop at 811 W 17th Street in 2012. Known for hand-crafted Italian-style specialty sodas and hand-rolled snow cones, it closed in 2016; its soda program was carried on by successor Goat Hill Coffee & Soda in the same space. Drafted 2026-07-07 (Compiler) — closed-business lineage entry; trailer start year + closure reason.

Origins — Fresher Than Fresh

Little Freshie grew out of Fresher Than Fresh, Lindsay Laricks’s mobile snow-cone operation run from a vintage Shasta trailer stationed on the Westside near 17th & Summit (approximately 2010–2011; exact start year).12 The trailer’s hand-rolled snow cones and from-scratch syrups built the following that made a permanent shop viable.1

The café

In 2012, Laricks opened the Little Freshie brick-and-mortar at 811 W 17th Street on the Westside, a soda fountain and snow-cone café known for hand-crafted, Italian-style specialty sodas (green tea pear, raspberry rose, fig vanilla, house root beer, and rotating seasonal flavors) alongside the snow cones that started it all.12

Closure and legacy

Little Freshie closed in 2016 (reason).34 Its 811 W 17th Street space and its soda recipes were taken over by Goat Hill Coffee & Soda, which opened in September 2016 and continued the Little Freshie soda program — a sign of how valued the recipes had become locally.34 As a closed operation, Little Freshie is documented here as history rather than carrying a live “Wheels to Walls” badge (see Food-Truck-Origin-Badge-And-Market-Presence-System).
