Bluto’s Fish & Chicken is a halal fried-fish, wings and burger counter at 9260 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64138, in south Kansas City near the Raytown line. It opened in July 2025 in a converted freestanding building that had been a cell-phone shop, and is owned by Muhamad Alia and his nephew Abdulaziz Urmi, both originally from Palestine. Everything is cooked to order — a sign at the order window warns of a ten-minute minimum wait — and roughly 90% of sales are to-go. Description

Bluto’s is a counter-service fry house built around three axes: fish, chicken and sandwiches. The kitchen cooks to order rather than holding product under heat lamps, and posts a sign by the order window telling customers to expect a minimum ten-minute wait — a deliberate positioning against the fast-food operations that surround it on Blue Ridge Boulevard.1

Most-ordered items are the wings and the fish. The wider board runs to Philly cheesesteaks, catfish nuggets and catfish sandwiches, shrimp and shrimp po’boys, spicy and Buffalo chicken sandwiches, Italian steak sandwiches, gyros, giant tenderloins, whole chickens, tilapia and whiting. Ownership and history

The owners are Muhamad Alia and his nephew Abdulaziz Urmi, only a few years apart in age and both originally from Palestine. Alia moved to Kansas City in 2005; Urmi arrived about twelve years later. The two had discussed opening a business together for years.1

They took over a freestanding former cell-phone shop at 9260 Blue Ridge Blvd. and spent roughly a year converting it into a food operation, doing as much of the labour themselves as they could to save money and hiring specialists only for the kitchen build-out. The restaurant opened in July 2025.1
