Callsign Brewing is a veteran-owned craft brewery in North Kansas City where every beer is named after the call sign of a fallen military servicemember, honoring the memory of lost pilots and raising funds for Missouri Patriot Paws and the Veterans Community Project.

Callsign Brewing operates a craft brewery and taproom at 1340 Burlington Street in North Kansas City, Missouri. The brewery’s defining characteristic is its naming convention: every beer is named after the radio call sign of a military aviator or servicemember who was lost in the line of duty. The practice is not incidental branding — it is the brewery’s founding purpose. Steve Sirois, a veteran, conceived of the brewery as a way to keep the memory of fallen fellow servicemembers alive and to direct tangible support toward veteran-serving organizations.¹²

Callsign Brewing raises funds for Missouri Patriot Paws — which trains service dogs for veterans with disabilities — and the Veterans Community Project, a Kansas City–based nonprofit that builds tiny-home communities to end veteran homelessness.² The brewery has been covered in regional food and drink media as both a compelling local taproom and a veteran-community institution.¹²

Ownership and history

Callsign Brewing was founded by Steve Sirois, Morris “Mo” Loncon, and Steve Sirois Jr. — a family-and-friends veteran ownership group rooted in Kansas City. Sirois served in the military and brought that service identity directly into the brewery concept: the name “Callsign” refers to the radio identifiers used by military aviators, and each beer in the portfolio carries the call sign of a fallen servicemember as a tribute to their memory.¹²

The brewery opened in 2018 at its Burlington Street location in North Kansas City, shortly joining the growing cluster of independent craft taprooms in the NKC corridor north of the Missouri River.¹ Flatland KC previewed the opening and covered the concept’s unusual memorial dimension; Feast Magazine also covered the launch.¹²
