Cardboard Corner Cafe at the Lenexa Public Market is a board-game café that combines food, creative drinks and gaming, occupying the northwest corner of the market at 8750 Penrose Ln.3 It offers more than 330 free-to-play board games for casual players and seasoned strategists alike, with no reservations needed for walk-in dining and gaming.3 The menu features waffles, grilled sandwiches and snack-style shareables, plus a drink program of milk teas, sodas and creative flavor combinations with popping or crystal boba.3 The stall operates 7 a.m.–9 p.m. Monday–Saturday and 7 a.m.–3 p.m. Sunday.3
Ownership and history
Cardboard Corner Cafe was founded by Madeline and Chase Davis, who opened the original café in 2021 in Overland Park next door to Tabletop Game & Hobby in the Regency Square shopping center after friends and family routinely gathered at their home to play games.45 Following success in Overland Park, the Davises expanded to the Lenexa Public Market, where the second location opened Feb. 16, 2024, in the market’s northwest corner.23
