Elephant Wings is Chef Ameet Malhotra’s Indian fusion kitchen at Parlor KC in the Crossroads — officially opened January 2024 after eight years as a private dining concept. Mumbai-born, Malhotra moved to Kansas City in 2001 via a Hallmark design job, then traded graphic design for cooking. Tikka masala poutine. Bombay-mi sandwiches. Metal-inspired plating.

Description

Elephant Wings is Ameet Malhotra’s love letter to Indian cooking filtered through a metal-head’s imagination and two decades of Kansas City life. Malhotra was born in Mumbai, came to the United States in 1999 for design school in Atlanta, and landed in Kansas City in 2001 when he took a job as a graphic designer at Hallmark. He learned to cook Indian food from his father, cooked for friends and family for years, and by 2016 had built a private chef and catering operation — Elephant Wings — that gave him enough validation to take the concept public. In January 2024 he opened at Parlor KC in the Crossroads, bringing a menu of Indian fusion dishes that mash South Asian spice logic with familiar American formats: tikka masala poutine, the “Bombay-mi” banh mi riff, a paneer sandwich, and the “Unholy Cow” — a name that has as much to do with reverence for cattle in Indian culture as it does with Malhotra’s love of heavy metal. In 2023 he was also featured at Iron District, a container park in North Kansas City. The restaurant also offers private chef and event catering through elephantwingskc.com.
