Fawzi Eatz is an owner-operated kitchen counter run by A.J. Jabr inside the Rocket Stop convenience store and filling station at 12128 Blue Ridge Ext, Grandview, MO 64030, just west of Truman’s Marketplace. It is not a food truck and not a standalone storefront — Jabr leased a closed gas-station kitchen and reopened it under his own name in January 2025. The counter is known locally for the “Fawzi Philly” cheesesteak and for fried fish offered in basa, catfish, or snapper. Jabr named the business for his late father and his young son, both called Fawzi. Tier 1 — owner-operated, KC-resident, no parent company.123

Description

Fawzi Eatz occupies the kitchen inside the Rocket Stop at 12128 Blue Ridge Ext in Grandview, a filling station and convenience store on the Blue Ridge Extension just west of Truman’s Marketplace. The kitchen had been sitting closed when A.J. Jabr stopped in to pay for a fill-up; he contacted the store’s owners and took it over, opening in January 2025.1

The format matters for classification: this is neither a food truck nor a leased storefront. It is a host-site kitchen — a self-branded operation running inside somebody else’s retail footprint, sharing the host’s hours, parking, and walk-in traffic. Jabr had considered a truck before the Rocket Stop opportunity appeared, and did not pursue it.1

The signature item is the Fawzi Philly — steak with grilled onions under a three-cheese blend. Fried fish is the other reported top seller, sold with a choice of basa, catfish, or snapper. Rocket Stop general manager Mike Gonzalez, quoted in the Martin City Telegraph, described the portions as “extraordinarily large.”1

Jabr calls his regulars “Fawzi Famous,” and the account’s own posts run on a repeating block of hashtags built around that phrase.14

Ownership and history

Owner: A.J. Jabr — named, photographed, and quoted at length in the Martin City Telegraph.1 Jabr grew up in the Northland, then lived in California for close to two decades working in relatives’ restaurants. He returned to the Kansas City area in 2019 and took a job in telecommunications, but began looking for a route back into food a couple of years later. He approached the Rocket Stop’s owners roughly eighteen months before the December 2025 article — that is, around mid-2024 — and opened the following January.1

The business is named for two people: Jabr’s late father and his six-year-old son, both named Fawzi.1

The Rocket Stop’s owners are described in the article as operators of other businesses — gas stations, a Subway franchise, supermarkets — but are not named beyond general manager Mike Gonzalez. They are the landlord/host, not owners of Fawzi Eatz. Nothing found this pass indicates any parent company, franchisor, or outside investor in Fawzi Eatz itself.1

Legal entity:. The Missouri Secretary of State business-entity search was inaccessible on this pass (bot-challenge wall), so no registered name, filing date, or registered agent has been confirmed. Do not assume an LLC exists.

Expansion intent: as of December 2025 Jabr said he wanted to open a second Fawzi Eatz in the Rocket Stop near Claycomo, closer to his home. Whether that opened is unconfirmed.1

menu_status: partial — dish items are documented by named local press and by the operator’s own posts, but no first-party priced menu was located. Prices appear only on delivery aggregators, which are marked up and excluded by policy; every price below is therefore “.

A note on domains: a page at fawzi-eatz.placejoys.com presents itself as a menu site for this business. It is an auto-generated third-party listing on a shared placejoys.com host, not a business-owned domain, and nothing on it is treated as first-party here. The business’s own Instagram bio carries no website link.2
