Fluffy Fresh Donuts at 5729 Johnson Drive in Mission, Kansas, is a yeast-donut counter that reopened March 19, 2026 under Eric and Christina Benson. It is not the same business as the State Line Fluffy Fresh (different owners; Ann Hollinger: “Fluffy Fresh is not a franchise”). Tier 1 independent.12
Description
Mission’s Fluffy Fresh is a classic early-morning yeast-donut shop on Johnson Drive. The Bensons opened at 5 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2026, and sold out by 7:30 a.m. the first day.1 Christina Benson told the Star the product is “all about the yeast and the dough”; she baked while Jim Hollinger, the previous owner, ran the fryer and oversaw the first service as they learned the line.1
Yelp (August 2026) lists weekday mornings roughly 5–10 a.m., Monday closed — consistent with a sell-out shop, not all-day hours.3
Ownership and history
Lineage (Mission shop): disKCovery (2024) recorded Ann Hollinger and husband Jim as then-owners of the Mission store, and placed the original Fluffy Fresh (opened by Jobe Hollinger) at 31st and Troost in Kansas City, Missouri. Ann Hollinger: “Fluffy Fresh is not a franchise.” The State Line shop is a separate business with different owners (Brenda and Richard Landreth per the same piece).2
The Kansas City Star (March 20, 2026) said Jim Hollinger inherited the family business started by his father “in the 1900s” and that Eric and Christina Benson acquired the Mission storefront and opened less than a month later after a friend, Conroy, told them it was back on the market.1 Johnson County Post (March 23, 2026) confirmed the wife-and-husband team and that they are using Fluffy Fresh’s existing recipes.4
A Reddit recap (not used for facts) claimed a short-lived “Holy Moly” interregnum after Hollinger retired; that sequence is not in the Star or JC Post pieces opened here. before asserting any interim operator.
Do not merge this page with a State Line Fluffy Fresh page. Same trade name, different owners, different cities.
