Jimmy B’s Pizza & Wings is one of the KC metro’s only dedicated Detroit-style pizza operations — a concept built by James Beard (a telecom professional who left his full-time job in March 2025 after high UberEats and DoorDash demand from a popup). Beard started running Jimmy B’s out of The Davenport bar in Strawberry Hill, Kansas City, Kansas, in January 2025; the delivery volume was strong enough to justify a permanent kitchen, and he opened the River Market location inside River Bluff Brewing at 201 Main Street in June 2025. Detroit-style is the exclusive format: thick, square pans, crispy-lacquered edges, and brick cheese — a pizza style still underrepresented in the KC metro despite being a national trend since the late 2010s. Wings round out the menu. The River Bluff Brewing partnership puts Jimmy B’s in one of the River Market’s most foot-trafficked spaces.
