Ownership and history

KC Döner is a family operation run by Sami Jenedi and his mother, Nesrin Jenedi.12 Sami Jenedi moved to Kansas City from Antakya, Turkey, about eight years before the restaurant’s launch and noticed there were few Turkish restaurants in the area.2 He began volunteering and cooking Turkish cuisine at Kansas City’s Ethnic Enrichment Festival, and after a positive reception, created KC Döner as an authentic Turkish pop-up that debuted at the Lenexa Public Market.2 The family then moved the concept into a permanent market stall, which opened in early July 2025 alongside another new market tenant.3
