Ownership and history

KC Döner is a family operation run by Sami Jenedi and his mother, Nesrin Jenedi.¹² Sami Jenedi moved to Kansas City from Antakya, Turkey, about eight years before the restaurant’s launch and noticed there were few Turkish restaurants in the area.² He began volunteering and cooking Turkish cuisine at Kansas City’s Ethnic Enrichment Festival, and after a positive reception, created KC Döner as a Turkish pop-up that debuted at the Lenexa Public Market.² The family then moved the concept into a permanent market stall, which opened in early July 2025 alongside another new market tenant.³
