KC Donut Co. is an Olathe-born donut shop run by Chrissy and Shawn Hatton, who took over an existing Olathe doughnut counter in the early 2000s and renamed it. The first shop outside Olathe opened November 2024 at 4567 Indian Creek Parkway, Overland Park. Tier 1 family independent (not a national franchise).1

Description

KC Donut Co. is a classic-case JoCo donut brand: yeast and cake donuts, morning hours, online pre-order (Mom Collective notes next-day online ordering).2 The November 2024 Overland Park opening was the Hattons’ first store outside Olathe and, the Star wrote, “ushers in a new era for the business.”1

First-party kc-donut.com runs a Square online-ordering storefront whose store picker lists all four shops — three in Olathe (127 N Parker St, 1729 S Mur Len Rd, 2014 E Santa Fe St) and one in Overland Park (4567 Indian Creek Pkwy) — confirming the Star’s November 2024 address set from the company’s own site.34 The storefront carries a full priced menu of 48 items across four categories.4

Ownership and history

Chrissy Hatton and husband Shawn Hatton took over an old Olathe doughnut shop (different name) in the early 2000s and turned it into KC Donut Co. By November 2024 they had three Olathe locations; Chrissy told the Star they were relocating the West Santa Fe / K-7 shop into the adjacent Price Chopper center.1

Do not treat this as a national franchise. It is a local multi-unit family company.

Prices are as listed on the shop’s own ordering page; the store picker offered all four locations.4 Only the four donut categories are exposed in the online storefront — legacy product pages for coffee, milk, juice, and Nesquik exist on the domain but return no readable price.

The Square storefront’s item-level description field is empty for every donut; only the three “By the dozen” combos (Small, Mixed, Large) carry operator prose, and those are reproduced verbatim below.
