KC Tiny Greenhouse was an independent, owner-operated plant shop in the West Bottoms of Kansas City, Missouri, run by KC-native partners Austin Mosier and Tristan Carlson. Begun as a passion-project tiny greenhouse in Hyde Park and opened as a West Bottoms storefront in June 2021 at 1101 Mulberry St., it sold houseplants, tropicals, and collector plants alongside work from local artists and makers. The owners launched West Bottoms Plant Company in 2022 and have since expanded to Lawrence; KC Tiny Greenhouse itself appears to be closed (Yelp marks the Mulberry St. location closed as of January 2026), having effectively been succeeded by West Bottoms Plant Company. This is a closed-stub record. 123

Description

KC Tiny Greenhouse was an independent plant shop in the West Bottoms of Kansas City, Missouri, at 1101 Mulberry St. It carried a broad plant selection — described as ranging from “classic house plants to unique tropicals and collector plants” — and doubled as a marketplace for local art and handmade goods, displaying work from roughly 30 area artists and makers.23 The shop also ran a monthly plant subscription service (“KC Tiny Plant Box”).4

As a West Bottoms retailer, it was a fixture of the district’s First Fridays foot traffic and pop-up culture, collaborating with neighboring businesses on events.14 Co-owners Austin Mosier and Tristan Carlson framed the venture around community-building and advocacy as much as plant retail.3

~2019–2020The original “tiny greenhouse” operates as a passion project in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Midtown KC, founded by a woman named Christina focused on sustainable living. 2022Mosier and Carlson open West Bottoms Plant Company in the historic 12th Street Post Building — a larger, vibe-forward plant store (later home to the ADHDIY Craft Cafe concept).12
April–June 2026The owners expand to Lawrence, KS with sister shop Mass Street Plant Company (6 E 7th St). 2026 coverage references only West Bottoms Plant Company and Mass Street Plant Company — no longer KC Tiny Greenhouse.67
By Jan. 2026The 1101 Mulberry St. KC Tiny Greenhouse listing is marked closed on Yelp; the brand appears to have been succeeded by West Bottoms Plant Company.1

Both owners are described as Kansas City natives.5 (the “native” claim appears in a single 2021 profile and is not independently corroborated; specific KC-metro municipality of upbringing is unconfirmed).
