La Fetta Delicatessen is a locally owned Italian deli and sandwich shop in southern Overland Park, opened in October 2025 by Overland Park residents Adam and Kelly Bracco in partnership with Matt Benzel, owner of Tagliare Delicatessen in Missoula, Montana. La Fetta (“the slice” in Italian) is a Kansas-side offshoot of the Montana original — most of its sandwiches are replicas of Tagliare’s rock-band-named menu — but the bread is baked locally and the husband-and-wife owners run it as a homegrown neighborhood deli.
Description
La Fetta Delicatessen is an Italian delicatessen and sandwich shop at 14363 Metcalf Avenue in southern Overland Park, Kansas, near the intersection of 143rd Street and Metcalf — adjacent to Jose Peppers and I Am Frozen Dessert Cafe, in a space previously occupied by Beastified Gym.12 It opened in October 2025.13
The menu centers on 19 signature sandwiches alongside a build-your-own option, with all sandwiches available on gluten-free bread.1 Most of the sandwiches are replicas of the menu at Tagliare Delicatessen in Missoula, Montana, and carry rock-band-inspired names; early best sellers include the Beach Boy and the Queen (both $13.95) and the Boss.13 Baguettes are delivered fresh daily — never frozen — from the local Farm to Market Bread Co.3 Beyond sandwiches, La Fetta runs a retail side stocked with imported Italian goods such as pasta, sauces, oils, and charcuterie, plus items like stuffed red peppers, and offers desserts including cannoli and chocolate chip cookies.12 Local press has described the atmosphere as “modern chic” rather than fast-casual, and reported lines stretching to (and sometimes out) the front door in the deli’s first weeks.12
The name “La Fetta” is Italian for “the slice.”1
Ownership and history
La Fetta is owned by Adam and Kelly Bracco, a married couple, with Adam — a longtime southern Overland Park resident — as the driving force behind the project; he wanted to bring an Italian deli to his own neighborhood.12 The third principal is Matt Benzel, owner of Tagliare Delicatessen in Missoula, Montana (the original deli, which opened in 2008), who partnered with the Braccos to bring the concept to Johnson County.43
The origin story is a vacation discovery. About two years before opening, the Bracco family stopped at Tagliare during a trip to Montana, were impressed enough by the sandwiches (Adam has singled out the “Sublime”) to return before heading back to Kansas, and Adam subsequently pursued a partnership with Benzel — convincing the Montana owner to mentor him on the concept and license the recipes.23 The result is an offshoot rather than a franchise: most sandwiches replicate the Montana menu, but the Overland Park location is independently owned and operated by the Braccos, with local sourcing (e.g., Farm to Market bread) layered onto the Tagliare recipes.3 Adam has framed the priority as quality: “we put a lot of time into it … high-quality is really what we want.”3
Day-to-day operations are overseen by a manager, Scott Waldmann, who has emphasized house preparation (“We don’t buy pre-sliced tomatoes, we do it ourselves”).1
