Description
LC’s Bar-B-Q is a no-frills barbecue institution in east Kansas City at 5800 Blue Parkway (the stretch since renamed Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd), near the Truman Sports Complex — long a pre-game destination for Chiefs and Royals fans.12 It is famous for burnt ends (pork, beef, and half-and-half) smoked over hickory in a massive brick-lined pit installed around 1990.21 Founder LC Richardson built it after a full career as an executive chef at Farmland Industries; today it is run by his granddaughter Tausha Hammett.13
