Mama Ramen is Jack Zheng and Rick Zheng’s ramen shop at 1513 Grand Blvd in the Crossroads — opened January 9, 2020. The Zhengs also operate Pokesan Sake Bar & Lounge on the second floor of the same building. KC Star and Flatland KC covered the opening.

Description

Jack Zheng moved from the Bay Area to Kansas City around 2005 to work at a sushi restaurant and has been in the KC dining scene since. The concept is a customizable ramen format: guests choose from straight or wavy noodles, one of five broths, a protein (chicken, beef, vegetable, pork belly, or kimchi), and toppings including red ginger, corn, and bamboo shoot, with seaweed and boiled egg in the base. Bowls were priced at $10.95 (small) and $12.95 (large) at opening. The Zhengs also operate Pokesan Sake Bar & Lounge on the second floor of the same building.
