Ownership and history

The business was founded in 1985 by Dave McNary, who began refinishing work in his parents’ home garage under the name The Refinishing Shop. In 1987, McNary moved the operation into its current building in Historic Old Town Overland Park. Around 1990, he added a retail storefront and rebranded the operation as McNary’s Furniture & Restoration.¹

In its early years the focus was kitchen-cabinet refinishing and antique furniture restoration.
