Description

Neighborhood Café is a beloved downtown Lee’s Summit breakfast and lunch spot serving home-style comfort food, best known for its signature warm cinnamon rolls.12 It operates daily from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 104 SE 3rd Street.3 In December 2024 it was acquired by Summit Hospitality Group (operating as Summit Grill Restaurant Group), the locally owned group behind Summit Grill, Third Street Social, Pearl Tavern, and the former Bōru Asian Eatery, which pledged to preserve the café’s longstanding charm and menu while keeping it locally owned.12

Ownership and history

The Neighborhood Café site carries more than 150 years of commercial history, originating as a wagon repair shop in the early 1900s and later housing the Clarence Brown Shoe Store, Browns Steakhouse, and the Chuck Wagon before becoming Neighborhood Café — making it one of the area’s oldest and most beloved restaurants.1 On December 9, 2024, the locally owned Summit Grill Restaurant Group (Summit Hospitality Group), co-founded by Andy Lock and Domhnall Molloy, acquired the café, framing the deal as preserving a Lee’s Summit landmark and its legacy.12 Co-founder Andy Lock said the group was “proud to carry forward this incredible legacy” and “honored to ensure it remains locally owned,” while Domhnall Molloy said the group was “committed to honoring its storied past while embracing the future.”1 Summit Hospitality Group itself dates to the 2012 founding of Summit Grill in Lee’s Summit by Lock and Molloy, both veterans of McCormick & Schmick’s Seafood Restaurants.4
