Description

Paris Banh Mi is a Vietnamese sandwich-and-coffee café with an attached French-style bakery, located at 1106 Westport Rd in Kansas City’s Westport district.¹² The roughly 3,500-square-foot space features an open kitchen and a bakery turning out fresh baguettes, croissants, and pastries such as cheesecake, lemon tarts, and coffeecake.³ The space previously housed Mike’s Wine & Spirits, which relocated next door.³

The menu centers on eight variations of banh mi sandwiches built on house-baked baguettes — the most popular being the Special Combination, layered with several meats and condiments — alongside an extensive line of handcrafted specialty drinks (including the brand’s signature “Paris By Night”), boba teas, slushes, and fresh teas made to order.¹³ Local coverage at opening described it as the city’s first banh-mi-dedicated sandwich shop, with Korean corn dogs and pho slated as later menu additions.³

Ownership and history

Paris Banh Mi is a multi-city Vietnamese-American franchise brand (the parent brand operates locations in numerous U.S. cities under parisbanhmi.com).² The Kansas City location is locally and independently owned by Binh Dang as a franchisee, not a corporately operated outlet. At opening, Dang told local press: “We saw the concept and we thought Kansas City needs this kind of franchise.”³ Dang and his wife also own nail salons in the Kansas City area.³

The Westport location opened in late December 2023.³ It operates as a single KC storefront under the Paris Banh Mi brand, with the franchisee responsible for local operations, the in-house bakery, and day-to-day management.
