Pho Tower opened to the public on April 3, 2014, founded by Kansas City restaurateur Spike Nguyen together with his wife Jessie.3 Nguyen was already known locally for the casual Vietnamese restaurant Pho Hoa on Independence Avenue before opening at 3623 Broadway, a storefront with a long history of short-lived prior tenants dating back to the 1950s.3 The Nguyens fully renovated the space — new kitchen equipment, lighting, a bar, and sound system — and originally ran the concept (styled “iPho Tower”) with extended late-night hours.3 The business remains family-owned and operating under the Pho Tower / iPho Tower name.12
