Description

Pilgrim Coffee Company is a family-owned specialty coffee shop and espresso bar at 12643 Metcalf Avenue in Overland Park, anchoring the Metcalf 127 Shopping Center at 126th and Metcalf.¹² It opened on January 1, 2018, after a soft opening at the end of 2017.²³

The concept is a community-oriented café rather than a roaster: Pilgrim runs a traditional espresso program but does not roast its own beans, instead sourcing them from Post Coffee Co. in Lee’s Summit.³ The shop is notable for its Kees Van Der Westen espresso machine imported from the Netherlands — an unusual piece of equipment for the Kansas City market at the time of opening.³ The roughly 3,000-square-foot space seats up to 100 guests, including a small private room, and partners with local makers including Shang Tea, Scratch Bakery, Emily Kate’s Bakery, and KYYA chocolates.¹³
