Relikcs Furniture is a Kansas City maker of heirloom-grade stereo consoles and handcrafted furniture, founded in 2023 in the West Bottoms by Dan Posch, Brad Graff, and Paul Suquet. Its flagship product, the Timbre console, marries solid-wood mid-century cabinetry with modern record-playing and streaming components — built and shown out of the Vintage Source showroom at 1101 Mulberry St.

Description

Relikcs Furniture is a Kansas City–based maker specializing in heirloom stereo consoles and handcrafted furniture rooted in mid-century American design.1 Its signature piece, the Timbre console, is built from solid wood and styled after the elegant forms of the 1950s and ’60s, while housing modern internals that pair traditional record-playing with contemporary streaming capability in a single cabinet.23 Pricing for a console runs to roughly $10,000 per unit, positioning Relikcs at the high end against audio brands such as Bluesound.3

The company frames itself in “the tradition of quality American manufacturing,” producing “heirloom pieces designed to stand the test of time.”1 As of late 2024 the partners had retrofitted 50-plus consoles since beginning the work.3 Pieces are designed, built, and displayed through the Vintage Source showroom in the West Bottoms, a 7,000-square-foot space that also offers upholstery, restoration, and refinishing services.43

Ownership and history

Relikcs Furniture was founded in 2023 by Dan Posch, Brad Graff, and Paul Suquet.12

Posch spent the first decade of his career in sales and marketing for boutique hotels in the Kansas City area before being furloughed during the COVID-19 pandemic.3 He moved into vintage furniture in 2020, founding Vintage Posch and refinishing mid-century modern furniture out of a garage, selling through local antique dealers including River Market Antiques and Bella Patina.3 In 2023 he opened the Vintage Source showroom in the West Bottoms with Brad Graff,1 then launched Relikcs later that year with Graff and Paul Suquet.1

Suquet, a sound-recording engineer, had been retrofitting stereo consoles in Mexico City before relocating time to Kansas City; he reached out to Posch in late 2021 proposing that he modify console internals while Posch built the exterior cabinets.3 Graff, originally from Sioux City, Iowa, brought operations expertise to the partnership.3
