Rulber’s Restaurant Mas Cantina is a Mexican cantina at 5358 W 95th St in Prairie Village’s Meadowbrook shopping center (ex–Another Broken Egg). Soft-opened late July 2026 as the first restaurant to carry founder Rulber De la Torre’s own name after more than two decades building Mi Ranchito. Smaller, more grilled-forward menu than the Mi Ranchito line; family-run with wife Ana De la Torre. Tier 1 independent (owner-operator, KC-metro based).123

Description

Rulber’s is framed as an upscale cantina relative to the long Mi Ranchito menus: more grilled items, room for new recipes the chain kitchens could not absorb. Signature dishes called out in opening coverage include housemade corn and flour tortillas, tableside-style guacamole mashed in a molcajete at the front counter, cherry-tomato salsa, chile-style pork ribs, ribeye tacos, pozole and tortilla soup, a salmon salad De la Torre calls a “hidden gem,” and the Billionaire Burrito (ribeye, grilled shrimp, crab, onions, peppers, chipotle cream).14

Meadowbrook neighbors at full occupancy include The Big Biscuit, Betty Rae’s Ice Cream, and The Bar Prairie Village.2

Ownership and history

Rulber De la Torre was born in Michoacán, Mexico, last of twelve siblings, and grew up on a ranch; he moved to Kansas at 15 (1989) seeking outdoor work and started as a dishwasher, then cook, then kitchen manager in KC restaurants.12 He opened the first Mi Ranchito in 2004 at 964 S Harrison St, Olathe, with secondhand chairs; the brand later grew to multiple Johnson County locations plus regional Kansas restaurants (Fort Scott, Mound City), ~250 employees across the operation.2

Rulber’s is the first concept under his own name. Soft opening reported ~one week before Startland’s July 2026 piece; Johnson County Post dated the open to the end of July 2026. Wife Ana and their children work in the restaurants; ~25 staff at Rulber’s at open.21
