Safi Fresh is a health-forward café opened at 1512 E. 18th St. in Kansas City’s Historic 18th & Vine Jazz District in June 2026 — the third location for Black woman entrepreneur LaRonda Lanear, who operates Safi Fresh at KCI Airport and a Waldo brick-and-mortar at 8133 Wornall Rd. The 18th & Vine space (obtained through the City’s Open Doors! initiative via EDCKC) shares the former Soirée restaurant building with haus-1512 (Erica Harris’s cocktail lounge concept).

Description

Safi Fresh is a health-forward café and gathering space opened at 1512 E. 18th St. in June 2026 — the third location in LaRonda Lanear’s Safi Fresh operation, which also runs at KCI Airport and 8133 Wornall Rd (Waldo). Lanear obtained the 18th & Vine space through the City of Kansas City’s Open Doors! / City of Entrepreneurs initiative via EDCKC, which connects small businesses with available commercial space. She shares the former Soirée restaurant building with Erica Harris’s haus-1512 cocktail lounge.

The 18th & Vine location is designed as a cultural gathering point: Lanear plans to incorporate KC music and art history into the space’s design, and has programmed soul food Sunday pop-ups alongside the core café menu. The soft launch timed to Juneteenth (June 19–20, 2026) signals the intentionality of the location within one of KC’s most historically significant Black cultural districts.
