Sido’s (stylized SIDO’S, also branded Sido’s Cuisine / Sido’s Mediterranean Cuisine) is an owner-operated Mediterranean and Middle Eastern kitchen run by chef Abbas Abu Zareefuh, whose flagship stall operates on the second floor of the Parlor KC food hall in the Crossroads/Downtown East district. The name is the Arabic/Palestinian word for “grandfather,” honoring the owner’s father, who ran a restaurant in Jordan in 1959.12

Description

Sido’s serves authentic Mediterranean and Middle Eastern fare — shawarma, gyros, falafel, kebabs, hummus, and Mediterranean barbecue — from a stall on the second floor of the Parlor KC food hall at 1707 Locust Street.13 The kitchen’s stated focus is “simple, fresh, flavorful food made with passion and tradition,” and owner-chef Abbas Abu Zareefuh emphasizes scratch cooking — “Everything’s going to be from scratch,” with “nothing from the bottle.”23 Frequently praised items include the falafel, chicken shawarma, gyros, lamb chops, and baklava.4

Ownership and history

Sido’s is owned and operated by chef Abbas Abu Zareefuh. The business is named after his father, who operated a restaurant in Jordan in 1959; “Sido” is the Palestinian/Arabic word for “grandfather.”2 Abu Zareefuh inherited a love of cooking from his father and worked as a chef in Jordan and Dubai before immigrating to the United States.2

He launched Sido’s in the Kansas City area around 2022–2023 (a October 2024 report described the business as having operated “less than two years”), beginning with the Parlor KC food-hall stall and a shipping-container outpost in North Kansas City’s Iron District (1599 Iron St). A full-service dine-in location later opened in Overland Park at 10150 W. 119th St.2 This Registry page covers the Parlor KC flagship stall at 1707 Locust Street.
