Sierra BBQ is Ryan Edwards’s casual Kansas City-style BBQ restaurant at Lenexa City Center — opened October 22, 2024 as the sister concept to his upscale Sierra Grill (2016). Description

Sierra BBQ is Ryan Edwards’s casual Kansas City barbecue restaurant at Lenexa City Center — a concept he built alongside his upscale Sierra Grill as a more approachable expression of his fine-dining precision applied to KC’s home cuisine. Edwards is a Kansas City native who left the metro to climb the Las Vegas fine-dining ladder, cooking at Thomas Keller’s Bouchon at The Venetian and Hubert Keller’s Fleur de Lys at Mandalay Bay. When Fleur de Lys closed in 2014, Edwards decided Las Vegas was no place to raise children, and he and wife Marichris returned to Kansas City to be near family. In 2016, he and his father converted a former Quiznos in Lenexa into Sierra Grill, an upscale steak and seafood house named after Marichris’s maiden name — Sierra. Sierra BBQ opened on October 22, 2024, as the casual sister concept in the same building, bringing the same attention to technique to Kansas City-style ribs and smoked meats. KC Magazine’s review noted fall-off-the-bone tender ribs. Both concepts remain independently owned.
