Taqueria Pardos is a new taqueria-and-buffet at 842 Osage Avenue in Armourdale, Kansas City, Kansas, open daily from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the storefront that was Chihuahua Mexican Restaurant (Gorditas Chihuahua) until 2025. It runs à la carte — menudo, gorditas, tortas, seafood cocktails — and, since February 18, 2026, an all-you-can-eat buffet at $19.99. The name, the buffet format and the timing all point toward the family behind the Pardo’s Grand Buffet Mexicano that closed on Southwest Boulevard in 2025, but no source has yet confirmed the link.

Description

Taqueria Pardos occupies a one-story storefront on Osage Avenue, a block south of Kansas Avenue in Armourdale, near the S. 9th Street corner.1 It opens at 7 a.m. every day — a breakfast-and-menudo schedule — and closes at 8 p.m.12 The kitchen runs two ways: an à la carte taqueria menu (menudo, gorditas, tortas, guacamole, shrimp and seafood cocktails, a filete de pescado, house flour tortillas) and, since February 18, 2026, a buffet priced at $19.99 for adults and $10.99 for children.123 A June 2026 reviewer reported a buffet plate, a bottled Mexican Coca-Cola and flour tortillas for about $25 and praised the quality for the price.1

The restaurant’s Facebook page is “Taqueria Pardos Kc”; a second page, “Taqueria Pardo’s | Kansas City KS,” appears in the same searches.4 An online-ordering site under the LLC’s name was built on the FromTheRestaurant platform and, at retrieval, had item pages indexed (a “Filete de Pescado / Fillet fish” entry) but displayed only a “finish setting up your online ordering” placeholder.3

The Pardo’s question. Pardo’s Grand Buffet Mexicano Restaurant & Taqueria operated at 904 Southwest Blvd on Kansas City’s West Side from 2009, serving fajitas, burritos and enchiladas and a roughly $20 all-you-can-eat buffet — whole tilapia, cinnamon sweet potatoes, “what it would be like to visit a Mexican grandparent’s house,” as The Pitch put it in July 2024.56 It closed in late summer 2025, and the Kansas City Star reported on September 25, 2025 that La Hamburguesa Loca would take the space; the Star did not say where, if anywhere, Pardo’s owners were going.5 The Missouri-side entity was Pardo’s Grand Buffet Mexicano, LLC.7 A “Pardo’s Super Buffet” in Olathe is also listed as closed.8 Taqueria Pardos LLC surfaced in KCK within months — first Yelp reviews in December 2025, buffet launched in February 2026 — with the same surname, the same buffet-plus-taqueria format and the same Mexican-grandmother register.91 The Registry treats the succession as probable but unconfirmed until an owner or a press report says so.

842 Osage Ave was Chihuahua Mexican Restaurant, which traded on Facebook as Gorditas Chihuahua and advertised “Gorditas estilo Chihuahua” — “authentic food from the Mexican state of Chihuahua,” per the convention and visitors bureau’s listing, which also gives its hours as Tuesday–Sunday 8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. and its phone as (913) 413-0056, the number Taqueria Pardos now answers.1011 The bureau filed it under the KCK Taco Trail, and the listing was syndicated to the KC2026 World Cup dining directory before the closure.1012 Its Facebook page had about 2,400 likes; its opening date and owners are undocumented, and its Tripadvisor listing was created around 2023.1314 Yelp marks it closed as of July 2026.15
