Teocali Mexican Restaurant & Cantina has operated at 2512 Holmes Street, just south of downtown Kansas City, since August 2006.12 Founded by Enrique Gutierrez and his wife Graciela “Chela” Gutierrez, the restaurant is named for the family’s hometown of Teocaltiche, in the Jalisco region of Mexico, and is built on family recipes carried from prior generations there.3 In 2013 the operation expanded within its three-story building to add a second floor and rooftop patio.2
