Tiki Huna is the rum-centric tiki bar inside the Iron District, the outdoor shipping-container food-and-retail court at 1599 Iron St in North Kansas City. Its drinks program was built by Trent Kesterson, who came to the Iron District from Cinder Block Brewing when the district opened in 2019 and who works with fresh-squeezed juices, housemade shrubs and a deep rum selection — classic tiki drinks such as the Zombie and Mr. Bali Hai alongside rotating originals. Press has described Kesterson both as Tiki Huna’s owner (2021–2022) and as its bar manager (2023), and the Iron District has referred to Tiki Huna as its own bar; that ownership question is unresolved and recorded below. The bar is on the venue’s current vendor roster and posting to Instagram as of August 2026. **Operator entity.

Description

Tiki Huna occupies a container-and-patio stall at the Iron District, the repurposed shipping-container food court at 16th Avenue and Iron Street in North Kansas City. The Iron District’s own vendor page lists it under “Bars” and describes it in three words: “Hidden Tiki Oasis.”1 RiverNorth District’s guide to the venue calls the same space “a palm-roofed tiki cocktail hideaway.”2

The bar’s drinks program belongs to Trent Kesterson. City Lifestyle’s pre-opening survey of the Iron District’s founding tenants in 2019 introduced him as “moving down the street from his home base at Cinder Block Brewing,” bringing a plan built on “classic tiki cocktails … original drinks, a selection of high-end rums, and local beer and wine.”3 The Pitch’s 2021 “Drink This Now” column focused on his daiquiri, built to Constante Ribalaigua’s Cuban recipe — white rum, maraschino liqueur and simple syrup shaken with fresh grapefruit and lime and served over chipped ice — and described him as offering “his own” originals alongside rotating classics at “his bar in the Iron District.”4 Kansas City Magazine profiled his method the following year: “Every time we change the menu, I like to give myself a curveball ingredient, Iron Chef-style,” he said of The Scenic Root, a carrot-juice cocktail built with golden-raisin rich syrup, allspice dram, Campari, fresh lemon and orange, and four rums including two aged expressions, a rhum agricole and a Jamaican overproof.5 That article described Tiki Huna as the area’s only full-time tiki bar and called Kesterson its owner.

The bar’s decor is a personal collection rather than a themed build-out: a photo of Yoda in a Hawaiian shirt, Doctor Who tchotchkes and Neverending Story Easter eggs sit among the tiki iconography.5 The Instagram bio describes the place as “a rum-centric safe haven for all that is tiki and a place to hideout & enjoy all of the mysterious, exotic…”6

In winter the Iron District has converted the Tiki Huna space into a seasonal pop-up: Kansas City Magazine’s November 2023 holiday-bar guide reported that the venue was “transforming their usual tiki bar Tiki Huna into Deck The District,” a heated, enclosed upper-deck pop-up running November 15 to December 23, “curated by bar manager of Tiki Huna Trent Kesterson.”7

Ownership — open question: independent tenant or Iron District house bar?

Operating entity:. The sources conflict, and the conflict is on the record rather than resolved here:

 • Owner reading. The Pitch (June 2021) writes of “his bar in the Iron District.”4 Kansas City Magazine (August 2022) calls Kesterson “owner of Tiki Huna.”5
 • House-bar reading. Kansas City Magazine (November 2023) calls Tiki Huna the Iron District’s “usual tiki bar” — a possessive attributed to the venue — and demotes Kesterson’s title to “bar manager of Tiki Huna.”7 The Iron District also recruits Bartender roles directly under its own brand through its careers page rather than routing applicants to individual bar tenants,8 and Startland News’ April 2026 piece names the operator behind each new food stall individually while naming no operator for any of the three bars.9

Both readings can be true in sequence — an independent stall absorbed into house operation, or a founder-operator retitled — and no source located states the transition. : a Missouri Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Control liquor-license lookup for 1599 Iron St, or a Missouri Secretary of State business-entity search for a Tiki Huna LLC, would settle whether Tiki Huna holds its own license and entity or trades under the Iron District’s. (The Missouri SOS entity search was attempted 2026-08-13 and is behind a Cloudflare interstitial that blocks automated queries; it needs a browser session.)

This is the same open question recorded on the-dennison-wine-bar and tap-shack.

Last verified: 2026-08-26 · Source: first-party surfaces exhausted — Iron District vendor page (re-pulled), venue /menus page, SpotHopper ordering-menu, Square Online storefront tiki-huna.square.site (empty catalog), Namecheap-parked tikihuna.com, Internet Archive CDX, and named local press.110111213 · Confidence: High that no first-party priced drink list is published anywhere · menu_status: unavailable

menu_status: unavailable, not na — Tiki Huna plainly sells cocktails, rum, beer, wine and N/A drinks, so “no menu applies” would be false. The accurate statement is that a drinks list exists in the container (a blackboard is visible in customer photography) and has never been published to a retrievable first-party priced surface. Same posture as the-dennison-wine-bar.

Surfaces checked, and the ceiling

 • Own domain — tikihuna.com now resolves (A 162.255.119.144) to a Namecheap parking page: http://tikihuna.com 302-forwards to https://www.tikihuna.com/, HTTP 200, body “has been recently registered with namecheap.com” / auction lander, 2,963 bytes, empty
. Not a bar website and not a menu. (On 2026-08-13 the same spellings were recorded as non-resolving; the domain has since been registered and parked — still not a venue site.) tikihunakc.com and tikihunabar.com remain NXDOMAIN. Additional spellings checked this pass (tikihunankc.com, tiki-huna.com, tikihuna.bar, tikihunairondistrict.com, tikihunatiki.com, tikihunacocktails.com) also fail to resolve.10
 • Square Online — tiki-huna.square.site — a real Square storefront exists, titled Tiki Huna in the published bootstrap (siteTitle; logo file midcirclehuna.png, upload timestamp 2026-05-12). The catalog is empty: products: []; categories named “Online Menu” and “Items” (updated_date 2026-08-25) contain zero items; /s/shop and /shop/online-menu/… return the same empty catalog; 0 $ prices. Catalog syncing is disabled (syncing_disabled: true). The homepage still carries Square’s default restaurant-template copy (“Get started with this free eCommerce template for restaurants”). The Iron District vendor page does not link this storefront — Facebook remains the venue’s only outbound for Tiki Huna — so this is an unpublished/empty Square shell, not a live menu. The 2021-06-22 Wayback capture of the same host is likewise an empty Square shell (empty
, no drink names, 0 prices).1113
 • Iron District vendor page, re-pulled 2026-08-26 — Tiki Huna still listed under Bars, description “Hidden Tiki Oasis”; the only outbound link is still Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/TikiHuna/). Food/retail vendors on the same page link to Toast (order.toasttab.com/online/hotchicks, order.toasttab.com/online/zaki-1599-iron-street) and ChowNow (direct.chownow.com/order/38477/…); Tap Shack links Instagram; The Dennison still has no outbound. Those other vendors’ menus were not pulled.1
 • Iron District /menus (https://irondistrictnkc.com/menus, SpotHopper food-menu-v2, spot_id=177639) — HTTP 200,
Menus
, zero menu items, zero prices. The venue-level SpotHopper ordering endpoint https://tmt.spotapps.co/ordering-menu/?spot_id=177639 returns “Online Ordering is currently not available through SpotHopper’s New Online Ordering System.” tmt.spotapps.co/menus?spot_id=177639 and /menu?spot_id=177639 remain HTTP 404, matching the Dennison pass.12
 • Toast / Clover / ChowNow / Menufy — no Tiki Huna storefront. Toast slug probes (order.toasttab.com/online/tiki-huna and variants) return Cloudflare 403 from this pass, same bot-challenge as other Toast misses; the vendor page is the authority that Tiki Huna is not among the district’s Toast-linked food stalls, and those 403s are not treated as a catalog. Clover /online-ordering/tiki-huna (and variants) are the empty SPA shell titled “Online Ordering | Clover” (“You need to enable JavaScript to run this app”) — not a merchant catalog. ChowNow ordering.chownow.com/tiki-huna (and variants) 404. Menufy tikihuna.menufy.com / tiki-huna.menufy.com 301 to order.menufy.com/?404Location.
 • Facebook / Instagram — Facebook is the venue-linked channel; mbasic returns a login wall (HTTP 400/login). Instagram @tikihuna has no recoverable menu or ordering link from the profile.16
 • Wayback — CDX for tikihuna.com, www.tikihuna.com, tikihunakc.com, tikihunabar.com, tikihunankc.com, tiki-huna.com all return zero captures. There is no dead first-party site to recover. The Square host (above) has been archived since 2021-06-22 and has never held a drink list.13
 • Aggregators (Yelp, Restaurantji, Wanderlog, findglocal, Checkle, Restaurant Guru) — deliberately not used for prices or for a drink list, per the first-party-only rule. A blackboard drinks menu is visible in a customer photo on the Yelp listing but is not legible or datable as a first-party published menu.14

Ceiling — do not re-spend on remote research. Every remote first-party channel is now exhausted, including the Square shell that the 2026-08-13 pass had not found and the Archive, which holds nothing for the own-domains. The only routes left are physical: photograph the in-container blackboard, or a logged-in pass over Facebook/Instagram photo albums for a posted list. Route this as fieldwork, not as another search pass. Do not import aggregator prices. Do not invent a tiki-canon cocktail list. Do not pull other Iron District vendor menus.

Drinks attested in press (no prices)

Presented as prose rather than a priced item list, because no first-party menu was recovered. Every price is ****. These names stay as press facts; they are not a current menu.

 • Daiquiri — Constante Ribalaigua’s Cuban build: white rum, maraschino liqueur, simple syrup, shaken with fresh grapefruit and lime, served over chipped ice4
 • The Scenic Root (seasonal, 2022) — carrot juice, golden-raisin rich simple syrup, allspice dram, Campari, fresh lemon and orange, four rums (two aged, a rhum agricole, a Jamaican overproof)5
 • Philosopher’s Grog (past seasonal; City Lifestyle reports it as a previous-year favorite later rotated off) — Plantation 5-year rum, port, honey syrup, guava, Angostura, lemon; home recipe published, no bar price15
 • Zombie and Mr. Bali Hai — described as permanent fixtures of the classic-tiki side of the menu5
 • Rotating seasonal originals; menu changes on a cycle, each with a self-imposed “curveball ingredient”5
 • High-end rum selection; local beer and wine also poured3
 • Non-alcoholic options available (an Athletic N/A radler appears in customer photography on the venue’s Yelp listing)14

— resolvable on site only, per the ceiling above.
