Raymore, Missouri is a city of 22,941 people (2020 census) in Cass County, a southern suburb of the Kansas City metropolitan area that has been among Missouri’s fastest-growing cities in recent Census estimates.1 The town was platted in 1872 and incorporated March 20, 1877; its name combines the surnames of railroad men George Rea and Henry Moore.1

History
Railroad town
Raymore was laid out in 1872 as a railroad stop and took its name from George Rea and Henry Moore.1 Incorporation followed on March 20, 1877.1 Population remained small into the mid-20th century (hundreds of residents through the 1960s), then grew rapidly as the metro expanded south: 587 (1970) → 3,154 (1980) → 11,146 (2000) → 19,206 (2010) → 22,941 (2020).1
Historic landmark
The Watkins Family Farm Historic District was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.1
