Bánh Mì KC is one of the food counters inside 888 International Market on West 119th Street in south Overland Park, the metro’s largest Asian grocery.¹ It is not in the front food court: reviewers describe it as “hidden away in the 888 market,” found by walking past the food court toward the back aisles — the market’s own announcement located it “between aisles 9/10.”¹² The market had teased “Bánh Mì KC Coming Soon” on its Facebook page before the opening.²

The menu, per an opening-day video and early reviews, is a handful of bánh mì — heo quay (roast pork belly), a “#7” roast pork, teriyaki chicken — alongside phở, chè (Vietnamese sweet soups), fresh-pressed sugarcane juice, yogurt, Vietnamese coffee and a pennywort (rau má) drink.³¹ The opening-day poster called it “a new great Vietnamese addition to OP” and named the pork-belly bánh mì and the sugarcane juice as the standouts.³

Tyler Shane’s January 2026 Kansas City Magazine piece on the spread of Vietnamese food across the metro cites “Banh Mi KC inside Overland Park’s 888 International Market” alongside Paris Bánh Mì, BB Bánh Mì and Pho Noodle Go as evidence that the sandwich is “having a moment” in Kansas City.⁴

Ownership and history

The operator is not named anywhere we could retrieve — not on the market’s announcement, the shop’s own social accounts (not machine-readable), or in press.
