The Crossroads Hotel is a 131-room boutique hotel at 2101 Central St, built into two Pendergast-era buildings — a 1911 Pabst Brewing bottling depot and the adjoining “Pendergast Building” that Tom Pendergast leased for his distilling company in the 1920s. Owned and operated by Chicago’s Aparium Hotel Group since 2015 (opened October 2018), it hosts KC’s biggest weekly run club (Percheron Run Club, Tuesdays) on its rooftop beer garden and carries an in-house arts program curated by KC architects el dorado.
Description
The Crossroads Hotel is the district’s flagship adaptive-reuse project: two beer-and-Pendergast buildings turned into a boutique hotel whose public program — gallery, artist residency, rooftop beer garden — deliberately plugs into the neighborhood.12 Its KC texture is real (el dorado architecture, J. Rieger and Messenger partnerships), but the ownership is not local, and the Registry records both facts.13
Food and drink
Three in-house concepts share the building.41 Lazia is the dinner restaurant — modern Italian leaning steakhouse, candlelit room, hip-hop soundtrack, homemade pastas and shareable steaks and sides. Percheron is the indoor/outdoor rooftop bar and beer garden, pouring craft beer and cocktails over skyline views with bocce; it hosts the Tuesday Percheron Run Club. XR is the all-day lobby bar and café off the entrance, open to hotel guests and walk-in locals for coffee, light bites and drinks. The beverage program leans on Kansas City partners including j-rieger-and-co spirits and Messenger Coffee.4
