Mindgames and Magic is an independent comic, game, and collectible store at 206 SE 2nd St, Suite B, in downtown Lee’s Summit — Magic: The Gathering singles and sealed, Flesh and Blood, Pokémon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Games Workshop, board games, RPGs, comics, manga, and hobby supplies, wrapped around a game room the store advertises as free to use for all. Owned by Dru Newman and Eddie Pease; the Missouri LLC was filed 14 December 2020 and the store opened in downtown Lee’s Summit in 2021. It runs a second web property, mindgamesevents.com, for its Warhammer 40,000 tournament circuit.

Description

Mindgames and Magic describes itself, in its own site metadata, as “YOUR store for Comic Books, Manga, WH40K, Magic the Gathering, Pokemon, Board Games and other Collectibles,” with “over 1400sq/ft of game room that’s free to use for all, so come by and find your story.”1 That last clause is the shape of the business: a retail floor whose economics are bound to a play floor that costs nothing to sit down at.

The store occupies 206 SE 2nd St, Suite B, a block off the Lee’s Summit downtown square and inside the Downtown Lee’s Summit Main Street district, where it is listed under Collectibles, Gifts + Antiques and Specialty Shops + Boutiques.2 It is open seven days a week — 11am–9pm Monday through Thursday, 11am–10pm Friday, 10am–10pm Saturday, and noon–6pm Sunday — with the late Friday and Saturday closes that a store running evening tournaments needs.13

The catalogue is broad rather than specialised. The site’s own navigation carries Magic: The Gathering singles, sealed product and accessories behind a dedicated advanced-search and deck-builder tool; other trading card games in Flesh and Blood, Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh; Games Workshop in Warhammer 40,000 and Age of Sigmar; board games; roleplaying games in D&D 5e, Pathfinder and Starfinder; and two tiers of supply — player supplies (dice, sleeves, deck boxes, playmats) and hobby supplies (paints, tools, adhesives). Comics run on a subscription model managed through League of Comic Geeks, and the store operates a buylist as well as a retail counter.1 Online orders ship free over $79.1

The event calendar is sold as ticketed inventory through the store’s own shop, which makes it unusually legible. Entries on offer at this pass included FNM Entry ($5) and FNM 2-Headed Giant ($25), Commander ($5), cEDH Saturday Commander ($5), 2-Headed Giant Commander ($10), Legacy Event Night ($10), a Final Fantasy x Magic draft-on-demand ($20), Flesh and Blood armory ($5), draft ($15), sealed ($25) and win-a-box ($15), D&D Adventurers League ($10), and Marvel Crisis Protocol monthly ($10) and Season 0 ($25) entries.4

Warhammer 40,000 is run as its own brand. mindgamesevents.com — footered “Mindgames and Magic, LLC” — hosts a monthly RTT series played at the store, plus larger events that outgrow it: New Years Knockout, held 10–11 January 2026 at the “Green Street Building (Across from Mindgames and Magic)” at 209 SE Green St; Blade & Bolter 2026, registered through Best Coast Pairings; and Planet arKCanite 2026, run 27–28 March 2026 at Bartle Hall Convention Center in downtown Kansas City.56 Listed sponsors of that circuit are Planet Comicon Kansas City, Good Bitter Best, and Stellar Gifts and Goods.7 A Lee’s Summit game store organising a 40K event inside Bartle Hall is a metro-scale operation, not a neighbourhood one.

The store is a CMON Play retailer in the publisher’s own shop locator.8

This page is not Level One Game Shop in the River Market, and not Pawn & Pint, the board-game bar — both separate Registry entries. It is also not mindgamesevents.com as a business in its own right; that domain is a second web property of the same LLC.

Ownership and history

Mindgames and Magic, LLC was filed with the Missouri Secretary of State on 14 December 2020, charter number LC1748785, with the stated purpose “to engage in the business of furnishing amusement and entertainment on a retail basis, including comics, board games and other themed merchandise.” The registry record carries a registered address of 4600 Madison Ave, Ste 600, Kansas City, MO 64112 — a registered-agent address, not the store — with S & B Corporate Services, Inc. as agent and Vincent L. Gualtier as organizer.9 The LLC name is confirmed first-party: both mindgamesevents.com pages carry the footer “Copyright © 2025 Mindgames and Magic, LLC - All Rights Reserved.”57

The storefront opened in downtown Lee’s Summit in 2021, roughly seven months after the filing. The Lee’s Summit Tribune reported the opening under the headline “Mindgames & Magic Opens In Downtown Lee’s Summit,” naming Dru Newman and Eddie Pease as the two owners, recording three staff at the time, giving the address as 206 SE 2nd Street Suite B, and putting the space at nearly 3,000 square feet — about 1,600 square feet of retail and almost 1,400 square feet of game space. The same report describes an open-house weekend that drew more than 800 people, and gives the origin of the name: the “Mindgames” half reflects Pease’s boyhood love of puzzles. The store’s stated aim was “providing a safe place for enthusiasts to enjoy their hobbies.”10

That Tribune article can no longer be read at its own URL. lstribune.net returns HTTP 404 across the whole domain and serves a placeholder page for an unrelated Georgia restaurant, and the Internet Archive holds no capture of the article. Its content above is therefore reproduced from the search index only, and every claim resting solely on it is flagged as such in Sources. See Current standing.1011

Dru Newman is corroborated independently of the Tribune. He is the bylined author of the store’s own blog posts on mindgamesandmagic.com — the five-part Black Friday 2025 buying guides across TCGs, wargames, RPGs, board games and comics, all dated 26 November 2025 — and his LinkedIn profile is indexed with the headline “Owner/Member Mindgames And Magic,” with the role dated from December 2020, the month of the LLC filing.1213 Eddie Pease rests on the Tribune alone at this pass and is marked accordingly.

A second Missouri record, “Mindgames and Magic, Inc.” (number 00587245), a for-profit corporation with an address at 1117 SW Sunflower Drive, Lee’s Summit, MO 64081, also appears in the corporate registry. Both records are printed here; neither is merged into the other, and the relationship between them — successor, predecessor, holding entity, or unrelated — was not established this pass.914

No relocation is on record. The store’s address has been 206 SE 2nd St from the 2021 opening report through the 2026 first-party site, and every current locator agrees.101815 See Current standing for a directory artefact that can look like a former address and is not one.

Gualtier; stated purpose “to engage in the business of furnishing amusement and entertainment on a retail basis, including comics, board games and other themed merchandise. The business also organizes tournaments and other activities related to the retail products.” The LLC name itself is independently confirmed first-party at 5 and 7. The Missouri Secretary of State’s own business search at bsd.sos.mo.gov was not reachable this pass — it returns an HTTP 403 Cloudflare interstitial — so the filing date is registry-mirror-sourced and warrants a direct check.) ↩ ↩2

  10. “Mindgames & Magic Opens In Downtown Lee’s Summit,” Lee’s Summit Tribune. URL — UNRESOLVABLE AS OF 2026-09-07. The URL returns HTTP 404, as does the domain root https://lstribune.net/; the 404 body is a complete unrelated placeholder page titled “Toucan’s Ale House — Brunswick, GA.” Firecrawl returns the same placeholder. The article text below is reproduced from the search index only — the page itself was not fetched, and no archived copy exists (see 11). Asserts (index-only): owners Dru Newman and Eddie Pease, plus three staff; address 206 SE 2nd Street Suite B; the store “providing a safe place for enthusiasts to enjoy their hobbies”; nearly 3,000 sq ft total, roughly 1,600 sq ft retail and almost 1,400 sq ft game space; weekly tournaments; open seven days a week; an open-house weekend drawing more than 800 people; and the name origin — the “Mindgames” half reflecting Pease’s boyhood love of puzzles. Index fragments give the opening timing inconsistently (an open house on “July 10,” a summary reading “August 2021,” and an article date of 8 September 2021), so only the year 2021 is asserted on this page. ↩ ↩2 ↩3
