Rize N Shine is a breakfast-and-brunch restaurant serving both sweet and savory morning fare alongside lunch items and a full specialty-coffee program. The menu spans sweet cream pancakes, French toast, omelets, breakfast quesadillas, avocado toast, and chicken-fried steak, plus lunch dishes such as chicken sandwiches and caprese salads, with lattes, mochas, and milk-alternative options.¹² The restaurant occupies the long-running former eggtc. location at the corner of I-435 and Midland Drive in Shawnee, a space that operated as eggtc. for roughly 15 years before the McQueenys took it over and reopened under the new name.¹ It is open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.³

Ownership and history

Rize N Shine is owned by the McQueeny family of Shawnee — principally Matt and Heather McQueeny, with the restaurant’s own About page also crediting Brett and Loren McQueeny.¹² The couple are longtime Shawnee residents who moved to the community roughly 24 years ago and wanted to own a business there.¹ Matt brought decades of food-industry experience, including time with First Watch, Subway, and Performance Foodservice, while Heather spent nearly three decades as an elementary teacher in the Shawnee Mission School District.¹ When eggtc. — which had operated in the space for about 15 years — became available, the McQueenys took it over and reopened as Rize N Shine in June 2024.¹ Matt described restaurant ownership as a longtime personal goal, and Heather framed the neighborhood location as “a dream we couldn’t turn down.”¹
